The Boonville Hotel| Northern California Photographer

I know I gave The Boonville Hotel a tiny, smallminuscule,  HUGE shoutout in my post about Kendra and Lee’s Wedding. I just think it deserves it’s own blog recognition for being the coolest, most inspiring, fun place I have seen in a very long time here on the coast.  Not that there aren’t a ton of other amazing and inspiring places here, but I just fell in love with this tiny piece of paradise in Anderson Valley. From the sweet little restaurant Table 128 to the tiny vintage details, The Boonville Hotel is quite the eclectic piece of artwork and I just HAVE to share.

a summer visit to this awesome place is a MUST if you haven’t already!!

Until next time,

Party of 16|Northern California’s Premier Family Photographers

Monica contacted us from The Highland Ranch inquiring if we were available to photograph a family of 16. Her mom turned 70 recently and they wanted to have photos of the whole family taken as a gift.

Anytime you put three families together and try to take one photo, personalities are bound to show through. Our experience this past Monday was no exception.

I can say without a doubt that this was one of the coolest families I have met in a long time.  It’s not very often that you hear kids get excited about searching for frogs or going horse back riding. What about climbing a redwood tree?!? My kids get excited about all those things, but it’s not too often I hear those activities being offered up as incentive for behaving nicely. Coolest. Family. Ever.

Three Families, one set of twins, two great grandparents, and a great uncle. I can’t say it came without challenge, but it was definitely fun.  Upon our arrival one of the little boys came to me and told me that his shoes made him run faster like rockets. “I Looooovvvvveee my shoes!”

Don’t you love the yellow rocking chairs? I think they were perfect for this session. The colors that they chose were perfect and the riding vests! Don’t even get me started about the riding vests!

Seriously?!? Could it get any cuter?  I really don’t think so.  Thank you Dernburg Family for the wonderful morning! We had a great time with you all. Enjoy the rest of your vacation on the ranch!

One Love| Anderson Valley Wedding Photographer

Kendra and Lee. Your marriage celebration was simply breath taking. We can not begin to tell you how beautiful it really was. You are a sweet sweet couple. Your Our family is amazing.

We always love it when our clients also happen to be our family.  This last weekend’s wedding was immensely cool for both Cameron and me. From hanging out with family we have known and loved for years, and meeting new family we didn’t know anything about, to discovering new friends, it was a great experience for us both. Thank you Kendra and Lee for including us in you special day.

The Boonville Hotel is outstanding. If you have been thinking about a getaway, Anderson Valley is THE place to play!  Serious.

We can’t say better things about the team that made Kendra and Lee’s day a success. Big Ups to The Boonville Hotel for Event Styling and Catering.

Kendra and Lee chose to forgo renting chairs. Because of this, they opted to use the chairs that the hotel could provide. The eclecticism of the chairs fit perfectly with the over all feeling of the venue. Perfectly styled if you ask us. But who are we right?!?

Not a lot of detail was needed to add beauty to this venue, but what the staff brought to the table was fitting for the location and spoke volumes about the couple and their heritage.

Don’t even get us started on the food! Crab and Shrimp Ceviche, Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Fire Roasted Pizza were on the menu for the evening. Cooked to perfection and served with style. I think Table 128 at The Boonville Hotel comes by the slogan “so hot your cool, so cool your hot” honestly.

A shout out to Amanda at Anderson Valley Salon for hair and make-up.

Kendra and Lee’s message to their guests was “One love, one life, let’s get together and feel alright.”  We don’t think that any other phrase could describe their celebration more perfectly.  Complete with a bagpipe performance from Kendra’s Brother, the ceremony was heart felt and encircling.

Of course you can’t have a celebration with out two lovely people in love with each other.  Kendra and Lee, you are a beautiful couple inside and out.

Thank you again Kendra and Lee for inviting us to share in your celebration! Hope you are having a wonderful honeymoon!!

Lilla Rose Flexi|a product review

As many of you know, I just recently had my hair cut off and died fire engine red.  It is nearly impossible to get all of my hair to stay up in a ponytail at it’s current length. Enter Sarah Ives with Lilla Rose.  The Lilla Rose Flexi changed my life.

I am a Dental Assistant and have to keep my hair pulled back and out of my face while I am working with patients. The really cool thing about this clip is that it’s pretty, stylish, and easy to use.  If I want to take my hair down after assisting with a patient, it doesn’t leave a bump in my hair.  I can wear it to work, out to dinner, or just lounging around my house.

It can be used several different ways.  In a half up pony tail, full pony tail, or a twist.

There are several sizes to choose from based on your hair type.  Flexies are not the only things you will find at Lilla Rose either.  there are some other very cool things. Visit Sarah’s facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/lillarosebysarahives and see for yourself.

I highly recommend hosting a party with Sarah and checking out her stock with your girlfriends!  Stay tuned because we will be offering a giveaway from Sarah and Lilla Rose sometime in the near future!  We may also be featuring some of her products in a shoot coming up. Very exciting!

Until next time!

California Dreamin| Fort Bragg, California Family Photographer

A little background on this shoot. Holly and I have known each-other since high school.  Cameron met Nat while he was interning for his Paramedic.  I’ve been dying to get them in front of my camera. You can imagine my excitement when I  found an email from Holly asking if I would be willing to take photos of their family.  I mean, I get excited when anyone wants me to shoot for them, but when it’s someone I know and respect, it’s that much more exciting. I think I may have even done a Snoopy Happy Dance at some point.  We love when we get to work with our brothers and sisters in EMS. It makes our day!

Honestly. I have never seen Cameron take so many photos at a family shoot. It was awesome.  The location was amazing, the weather was perfect, and the family was AWESOME!  I mean, who could blame him right?    Don’t take my word for it though.  See for yourself.

We even got a very cool assistant out of the deal.  Thank you to second crew over at Fort Bragg Ambulance for covering for Nat so that he could join us on our adventure. AND thank you to Ryan for toting all our stuff around the dunes! Ya never know, we could be calling you in the future for assistance.

Now, if you know Holly, you know she is stunning.  Little did I know, she is also fiercer than fierce!

Don’t even get me started on how adorable Baby M is! He was just all smiles and giggles the entire session. Sweetest little guy we’ve encountered in a long time (ours not included).

Thank you Holly and Nat for inviting us to the COOLEST location ever. We had a great time and we hope you did too.

To see more from this session please visit and like their facebook album.  And of course, if you want to chat with us about your dream session feel free to visit the contact tab either on our facebook page or right here on the blog.

Everything Romance| A book review

I bet you couldn’t guess that I’m a huge hopeless romantic. Ha! No, I’m not. Cameron is. So it was only natural that when I was offered a review copy of Everything Romance, I couldn’t say no.

We had a ton of fun with this book. We spent the evening of Valentine’s Day reading statistics, romantic advise, poems and love stories.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys facts and love stories. For instance, did you know that if you make to 100 years married, you should be purchasing a 10 karat diamond? Little factoids like this, make this book amazing.

I highly recommend for the next anniversary or valentine’s day, you go our and get yourself a copy.

Also in this series is Everything Christmas

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review

Cleary Family Summer| Fort Bragg, California Family Photographer

Words can not express the immense honor that we felt when Mandy asked us to join her at the family cabin in the woods for a quick session with her family. Sometimes things work out the way they are supposed to. Cameron and I have been extremely busy this spring with house projects, elopements, and our kids. We have been trying to get together with Mandy and her son for spring photos for a while. I happened to have some time over the past weekend for a session and contacted her. Little did I know, God had plans far greater than I could have imagined.  Mandy had just received some unexpected news (which I will not share right now, maybe in a later post) and asked if Cameron and I would be willing to drive out to their family cabin which borders Mule Creek.

Sean asked if we would be willing to crawl  walk down to a waterfall that was behind the cabin. Of course, being the enthusiastic photographer, I agreed to go.  Little did I know it would be an experience I will not soon forget. If you know anything about me, you know that I am terrified of heights. I can’t even climb up a latter more than two rungs and I hyperventilate.  Let’s just say that this mountain. . . hill that I agreed to crawl . . .walk down was less than inviting and when I got to the bottom, my legs were shaking. I promptly put my bare feet in the creek and made the best of my shakiness.  The trek down to the waterfall was more than worth it in the end.

Thank you again Mandy and Sean for inviting us to spend the day with your family. Despite the fact that I had to look my fears straight in the face and I came out shaking on the other end, it was a wonderful experience climbing the mountain with you.  We were honored that you asked us to capture your memories in such an crucial time  and we know that we will do it again very soon. We can’t wait to spend some time with little man and capture his cuteness.  We really appreciate your family! Really can’t wait to do it again!!
